My training and experience covers a broad based range of therapeutic approaches including Analytic/Humanistic/Integrated/Domestic Violence/Solution Focused Hypnotherapy and Supervision. A strength of my training was that it encouraged me to explore and experience different approaches in key disciplines in order to integrate them into my individual practice. In addition I find that my own creative training in Art informs my therapeutic work. I am aware that in many fields such as the creative arts, or business world, limits are sometimes reached that are linked to ?blocks? rooted in the emotional world of the individual. My experience is that once these ?blocks? are worked through a connection with your personal creativity can return. I have developed an interest in the meeting of Eastern and Western Philosophies and how these approaches can be incorporated into the world of psychotherapy. Of particular interest to me are connections through the existential approaches and how engaging the mind, body and higher-self, may develop a person?s ability to be in clearer contact with themselves and others.
Humanistic Psychotherapy I feel, aims to help the individual re-discover and explore the Mind-Body and Transpersonal aspects of their life and help them to move towards a healthy re-integration. Each person is unique and needs to be valued and regarded as an individual. This can inturn reduce the need for constant internal struggle. As you move towards re-integration you may find that you are free to re-discover more of the previously lost positive aspects of yourself and how you live your life. Which may in turn, lead to an awareness of choice, increased clarity, a freeing-up of previously blocked creativity and a sense of being grounded.
I trained at The Institute of Psychotherapy and Social Studies , gaining a Diploma in Psychoannalytic Psychotherapy and at Uncommon Knowledge gaining a diploma in Short Term Solution Focused Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy. I am registered with both the UKCP. (United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy)and The GHR. (the General Hypnotherapy Register).
