NEW PROGRAMME Unconditional Positive Regard September 24-26th, 2010 with Jenny Biancardi and Lynette Green in Newcastle One of the more difficult core conditions from person centred theory is that of aspiring to unconditional positive regard toward our clients. In this workshop we will look at the connection between deep empathy and unconditional positive regard and how to express and develop this in a psychodrama setting, as well as the rest of life.

Psychological Contact January 28-30th 2011, Jenny and Sandra in Newcastle Being fully present, being authentic or congruent, is a crucial part of being an effective therapist or psychodramatist. We will look at ways we can take risks and reveal, and share, our response to others in a respectful and therapeutic way. It is possible to say almost anything, once you know how to express it in a useful way. Join us for the weekend and take some risks!
Drama, Psychotherapy and Psychosis: psychodrama with people who hear voices. February 25-27th, John Casson in Manchester Safe practice through an exploration of the method and special issues in this work. From 1996-2000 John worked with people who hear voices (auditory hallucinations) in individual and group therapy in the NHS. He conducted doctoral research into what people who hear voices find helpful or not helpful in dramatherapy and psychodrama. He completed his PhD at the Manchester Metropolitan University in 2002. A book based on this research "Drama, Psychotherapy and Psychosis", with a foreword by Zerka Moreno, was published by Brunner-Routledge in 2004. The book is the standard text for working in this field. John has continued his work with people who hear voices. His research led to the development of specific safe methods, such as the communicube (see: www.communicube.co.uk) and working in miniature. This training workshop will also look at the experience of the therapist and the development of empathy: a vital ingredient of safe and effective practice.
Person Centred Psychodrama March 18-20th Norbert Apter in Newcastle Pioneer of humanistic Action Methods and Psychodrama in the French part of Switzerland, Norbert Apter is an accredited person-centered psychotherapist-psychodramatist and trainer. The psychodramatist’s way of being in a therapeutic relationship is a key factor in the co-construction of psychodrama. Carl R. Rogers came to the conclusion that the primary role of the helper was a relational one and lay within the “way of being”. Thus, in order to combine both the way of being and the way of doing, the psychodramatist must become a facilitator-psychodramatist.
Spring Residential May 9-13th Sandra and Lynette Residential Venue tbc
Grief and Endings. July 8-10th John Casson in Manchester YHA We will explore unfinished business, mourning, saying goodbye and closure. Mourning is a central theme in psychotherapy. Unfinished business and unresolved act hungers can be completed in psychodrama. Successful closure, complimented by continuing affective bonds that provide healthy sources of spiritual and emotional connectedness, is a hall mark of completed grieving. Some losses however are more difficult to grieve and psychodrama offers a way to work with these. Working towards an ending of therapy is also important and we will look at what is good practice in structuring a planned ending. Many people find endings difficult. This workshop is an opportunity to explore this issue. John worked for three years as the training manager for Cruse Bereavement Care NW (2003-6).
Weekend Workshop fee: £149.00, or £129.00 if paid in full 3 months in advance. Autumn Residential Fee: £445.00 including all accommodation and meals A deposit (non-refundable) of £ 50.00 secures a place. FROM ONE-TO-ONE PSYCHODRAMA TO LARGE GROUP SOCIO-PSYCHODRAMA More writings from the arena of Brazilian psychodrama Edited by Zoltan Figusch
This is the second volume of Brazilian psychodrama writings translated and edited into English. While the first volume (Sambadrama ? The Arena of Brazilian Psychodrama) presented the historical background and identity of Brazilian psychodrama, as well as the theoretical and technical innovations introduced by the Brazilian psychodrama practitioners, this second volume focuses on two other areas of creative development and innovation:
Through theoretical reflections and clinical examples of practice the first part includes chapters regarding the theory and practice of one-to-one psychodrama, that is, psychodrama psychotherapy with an individual client and without auxiliary egos. Part two focuses on the socio-psychodramatic work with large groups and public events gathering great numbers of participants.
